“Reading, ‘Riting & Retail”

The 2012 Writers' Conference & Book Festival, featuring writing workshops, writers, book signings, book and craft sales, and a 'Literary Flash' competition will be held Saturday, May 19th, at the Northern Forest Heritage Park.

The New Hampshire Writers' Project and the North Country Writers' Night Out Group welcome our very special keynote speaker, well known television personality and author, Fritz Wetherbee. Mr. Wetherbee will remain on hand to autograph his books throughout the afternoon.

Supported by the N H Writers' Project, with on-site assistance from the North Country Writers' Night Out Group, the Conference and Festival will showcase the work of area writers, as well as offer workshops on writing and publishing.

The morning will begin with an overview on writing and publishing by George Geers, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Writers' Project. This will be followed by several workshops and breakout sessions led by well-known New Hampshire writers.

The afternoon session will showcase the work of many local and regional writers, through readings and question and answer sessions. The writers will be available to sign their books, with publishers and regional booksellers on hand at the Book Festival.

The highly popular 'Literary Flash' competition, one of the signature events of the New Hampshire Writers' Project, provides each contestant with three minutes to read his or her work, and the winner of several local contests then competes in the culminating event held at the N. H. Writers' Project state-wide conference held annually at the University of Southern New Hampshire, in Manchester.

There will be a fee charged for the morning workshops at the Northern Forest Heritage Park.

The afternoon programs are offered free of charge. There is no admission to enter the Park.
