Research & Development Buildings

As of 10/4/2010

  • the Visitor/Interpretive Center (East Wing, south side) now has all the walls prepared with stucco, tinted light gree. There is a new concrete floor and framework for the partition going into the north portion. There are three new entrance doors. The alley side, front entrance and east side have some "window fill-ins" with aluminum siding. We will be installing our new 5 historic windows in early October. The sewer line and water line have been installed on the inside. There is a family restroom almost completed. The front facade is having masonry work done to restore it to 1915.
  • The East Wing second floor concrete and walls have been pressure washed for PCB remediation and the TSCA regulated concrete floor has been removed. Confirmatory wipe and test samples have been taken and we are waiting for the results. All the wooden window framework has been chemically peeled. 

As of week ending 7/24/10 (remediation of the East Wing), 

  • The asbestos removal is complete from the interior surfaces.
  • The PCB-Lead based paint has been removed from all the brick and plaster interior surfaces. 
  • The north half of the East Wing's first floor had 1/2 inch of concrete scarified, high pressure washed and vacuumed in order to remove the PCB contaminated flooring.
  • The clean trades construction contractor was chosen, Couture Construction.
  • Construction of the new Visitor's Center starts Monday on the East Wing, south room.

  • The contaminated soils in the loading dock area, alleyway patio and southwest corner of the West Wing have been escavated to 2 feet of removal. We are waiting for test results for that as well.
  • Meeting by NHDES-Keith DuBois on April 7th at the NFHP's Bunkhouse (5/7/2010)
  • R & D (3/15/2010)
  • TMC Services Inc. arrrived on site subcontracting The Aulson Company, Inc. on Wednesday, June 23rd. 
  • Aulson will be doing the loose construction debris removal over the next week.
